Apple backs Windows on MAC

Apple not so surprisingly, released today beta software package named Boot Camp that enables Windows XP installation on Intel-based MAC computers. It is significant step in Apple’s struggle to gain maket share which has seen better days in 1990’s.

This move will not get it done, but may be enough to convince some to try Mac in dual boot environment with Windows giving Apple at least hardware sales boost.

Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing says:

Apple has no desire or plan to sell or support Windows, but many customers have expressed their interest to run Windows on Apple’s superior hardware now that we use Intel processors. We think Boot Camp makes the Mac even more appealing to Windows users considering making the switch.

For now Mac is more secure OS, but that could change if it becomes more popular. It will be interesting to see how consumers react.
