ajaxWrite is a free web based word processor launched by well known, disruptive entrepreneur Michael Robertson. It is designed to provide free word processing application that will work on all operating systems via web browser. For now, it only works with Firefox 1.5.
Notable benefits/advantages are:
- Global access, all you need is an internet connection
- Platform independent, you can use it with any operating system
- Automatic updates and upgrades
- Server side management – all the busywork is done for you
Documents can be saved as: MS Word (.doc), RTF, Text and PDF. It is not ready to replace MS Word yet but it could some day. Michael Robertson states:
My plan is to replace bloated, expensive PC software with a system that dynamically loads software to your computer when you need it and at no cost. Want to write a document? One click and you’ll have a word processor at your fingertips. Need to create a financial model? Click, and a spreadsheet program is at your service. The software will always be up to date and run on any Mac/Win/Lin computer.
