SiteAdvisor plugin for safer browsing

SiteAdvisor is wonderful plug-in for Firefox and Internet Explorer alike that automatically displays security notification about site being viewed.
Simple color coding helps users quickly identify if the site is safe from spyware, spam, viruses and online scams.

It is open to users to submit their own reviews and read what others have said about a particular website. It also rates search results from all major search engines making it even easier to detect potentially unsafe sites before opening them.

It is not a security tool that can prevent spyware from auto installing if unsafe browser is used or block pop-ups. But it will arise users awareness about potential security issues in an easy way. As we know educating users counts for majority of internet safty efforts.

Great job.

The only defense is prevention and that can only be fully accomplished by user education. Most times it is user action that triggers unwanted malware install. Starting with simple free tools can enhance security greatly. Suspicious and information fishing sites can be identified by browser plug-ins such as SiteAdvisor (I wrote about it here) available for IE and Firefox. […]
