Comcast.net spam filter is bad

If you are Comcast high speed internet service subscriber and use comcast.net email address then this complaint is for you too. I am sure you share the pain.

I have guarded my comcast.net email address carefully in hope to protect it from getting flooded by spammers. I use it for some of my e-correspondence and not for subscriptions to newsletters or any other type of opt-in email marketing. I had been successful keeping it relatively spam free until about nine months ago. That is when I started receiving 2-3 pharmaceutical spam messages (Canadian pharmacy) and at least one for Rolex watches every single day. No exception. Today it is proportionally worse. Three or four of these always come straight into my inbox. Their spam filter is just incapable of catching what should be common spam by now.

I have reported these messages as spam more times then anyone should need to. I have forwarded them to Comcast support for special handling or so I hoped. I am more then likely not in the minority of their subscriber base getting these. They just do not seem to be willing to do what it takes to block these messages.

It bothers me that a company the size and capital such as Comcast is not willing to protect their paying customers. No wonder Gmail gained so much popularity so quickly.

  1. I get those very same emails everyday. I’ve tried 3rd party spam filters but the email Client I use just won’t work well with any of them and it’s too good a client to drop. checks all my comcast and my webmail addresses at once. I’m pretty sick of Comcast raising prices and lowering services but they are my only realistic broadband provider. They sure make me miss Mediaone.
