Google announced that it would offer set of software applications called Google Pack for free. It includes: Firefox, Ad-Aware, Norton Anti-virus, Adobe Reader plus many of Google’s desktop applications; Picasa, Google Earth, Desktop Search and the Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer.
The only application that is not indefinitely free of charge is Norton Anti-virus, it comes with 6 months of free deffintions updates. After that users will need to extend their subscription by purchasing service from Symantec. All other applications from Google Pack are free for download from thier manufacturers anyways.
But it is beneficial to offer a package of essential software with update service called Google Updater that will monitor and automatically updated all services included in Google Pack.
Not bad, but interesting to see Google move further inside users desktop.
