I guess it was just matter of time before this came out.
IPEVO and Netgear (available in 1st quarter of 2006) have released phones that that allow user of popular Skype service to make calls just like if they were doing it from their regular land or mobile phone. In some aspects it is even better, price wise firstly.
Netgear phone will allow users to connect to their existing wireless home network removing the need to be connected to PC altogether. Skype application will come pre-installed and will allow contacts management from an interface similar to cell phones.
Making calls to other Skype users is free around the world, while making calls to land line and cell phones is not, but costs very little.
Skype could be even better, I am waiting for a small device that I can attach to my mobile phone and use Skype service without being connected to anything else. So far there isn’t one yet.
